WELCOME to Let's Cook GF and Book AF!

Hey everyone! Welcome to the first post of my blog! I am honestly SO excited to get started on this journey with you. In this blog I will try my best to connect delicious, homemade gluten-free foods with the themes and vibes of some of my favorite books. I came up with this idea last May, because I thought it would be a fun concept as a YouTube channel. Once I realized that I do not have a fancy YouTuber-worthy camera or the time to make and edit long videos, I kind of gave up on the idea. So, here I am now, executing the same idea only in a blog. I personally think blogging is a much better choice for me anyway, because I love to write, edit photos, and play with layouts.

The idea for this blog came to me while I was in the library studying for my finals at the end of my sophomore year of college-- which is pretty classic because I always come up with my best ideas while I'm procrastinating my responsibilities. Anyway, as I am now a college junior and I am inevitably reaching the day where I have to fully take care of myself in every way, (help I'm old!) it is definitely a good idea to learn how to cook as much as possible before graduation. I do have quite a bit of experience in the PB&J making business and in the smoothie blending industry, but beyond that I am quite clueless in the kitchen. Hopefully, week by week, I will become more comfortable making all kinds of foods and become less of an amateur cook right here in my dorm-room kitchen.

I also have the added element being a gluten-free eater, so all foods on this blog will be 100% gluten-free. I found out that I have Celiac Disease almost four years ago, and the diagnosis changed my life. It was initially so hard to say goodbye to all my favorite foods: no more pizza, cake, bagels, cookies, brownies, or Goldfish :(. As the years went by, I discovered that there are so many delicious alternatives to all of these foods, and that it actually isn't that hard to live gluten-free. Popular snack and food brands are debuting many more gluten-free options with the increasing amount of people going gluten-free, and it is incredible. I also have the pleasure of living in New York City, and there are tons of amazing GF foods all around the boroughs that I have tried or am dying to try. I can only hope that in this blog I can provide some easy, fun, and affordable recipes and ideas for gluten-free peeps like myself.

The second half of this blog is about books, one of my greatest loves in this world. Even since before I learned how to read, I've been fascinated with books. The library and bookstores are definitely my happy places :). I love basically every genre-- contemporaries, fantasy, historical fiction or memoir. I am always open to trying new genres of books that I have little experience with as well.

So, in this blog, I am going to cook something that has to do with a book that I've read. It could relate to the themes, the characters, the setting, or the overall vibes that I get from the story. I will discuss both the book and the food that I made, and will probably rate them both. I will try my hardest to provide variety in both the foods and books. Even though it is not exactly cooking, I know I will definitely bake a good amount too because of my massive sweet tooth.

With all that being said, Let's get ready To Cook Gluten-Free and Book As Fuck!!
