A lil Somethin' Different: A Review of Senza Gluten in New York City!

Hey cookers and bookers! Welcome to another Let's Cook GF and Book AF blog post! For this week, I decided to review one of my favorite GF restaurants in NYC, Senza Gluten! It's located in Greenwich Village on Sullivan Street, right around the corner from NYU and Washington Square Park. If you google the best gluten-free restaurants in New York City, Senza Gluten will come up on
almost every single site because it is 100% gluten free (which means no risk of cross-contamination!), italian, (where else can you get gluten free lasagna?) and ABSOLUTELY to DIE for.

I have been to this restaurant three times before, and overall my experiences have been super positive. The first time I got lunch with my GFFs (Gluten Free Friends) Ethan and Maggie and I enjoyed a delicious pasta bolognese. The second time I went for my birthday with my boyfriend and I ordered the lasagna, and the third time was just this past Saturday and I opted for a more brunch-y option; french toast. The french toast was just the right amount of food, and the bread was so thick and fluffy. It was so good that it was almost hard to believe that it was gluten free :). It came with a colorful fruit salad on the side, which was definitely a refreshing treat since I am not used to fresh fruit living on a college campus. I also started my meal off with a beautiful cappuccino, because a brunch is nothing without coffee to go with it :).

Senza Gluten has a pretty large menu, as they operate from the morning until evening, serving brunch, lunch, and dinner. They offer pastas galore, seafood, sandwiches, pizza, salads, all kinds of meat, and of course delicious sweet brunch options such as pancakes and waffles. At the main restaurant, diners can enjoy a sampling of delicious baked treats as well, from muffins, to scones, to biscuits. Senza Gluten also recently opened up a satellite bakery, Senza Gluten Cafe and Bakery, located right down the road from the original restaurant. My GFFs and I also checked out this little hidden gem on Saturday, and lemme tell ya everything looked amazing. I definitely regret not buying a piece of their red velvet cake, because it looked like heaven on freaking Earth. I'm definitely getting my butt back on the D train to get myself a piece of that goodness very soon.

At the restaurant, all of the wait staff is extremely sweet and professional. They always make sure all of your needs are filled, and ask you first thing if you have any other allergies besides gluten. The restaurant itself has a cozy, homey, and warm feel to it.

I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anybody, whether they are gluten free or not. The food is just that spectacular! My two complaints are that the food is rather pricey and that the service is typically a bit slow. It is understandable why the food is expensive, because it is GF and the restaurant is in NYC. As for the waiting, it is 130% worth it :).

Off to dream of french toast,
Mary 💖
